Bad Housing Numbers Since 2007- who would have seen that coming!
Yeah, nobody wanted to believe me. Even though I have been saying it for months throughout my blog, there is no way the housing numbers are what the National Association of Realtors (NAR) say they are. I mean it is simple math; jobs being lost, credit drying up, less cash in your pocket, gas prices increasing, yet NAR is telling everyone the housing market is improving. You feel it don't you? Food prices are increasing, the economy is unstable, our politicians are completely screwed up, the price of heating and cooling your home has increase substantially, but the housing marketing is getting better???
If you have read my blogs about the way NAR is run (as a former member I can tell you first hand it is a mess) and how their members, of which are mostly part-time salespeople, don't have a clue what they are doing, you would clearly see the BIG PICTURE now. NAR finally came out with the news today stating "Bad Housing Numbers Should Have Been Worse, NAR Says" Here's the really sad part, they say :The benchmark revisions will be published next Wednesday and will not affect house prices." I say REALLY? The data has changed but the housing prices stay the same. Does that sound right to you? These guys are trying to cover up a mistake; does that sound like anyone you know? Here's a hint – they all work in a big white house in Washington D.C. It's also important to remind you that NAR is a lobbying organization in Washington – nuff said right!
So what do you do? STOP WORKING WITH PART-TIME REAL ESTATE AGENTS!!! If your mom, dad, sister-in-laws best friends bothers uncle is part-time and trying to help you with real estate- walk away. Also remember the old sales technique, if your agent tries to brag they are a REALTOR®, the registered trademark is owned by the National Association of Realtors, a lobbying organization with millions of dollars and most likely are doing what's best for them and NOT you. Hopefully this is a lesson learned for all.
Here is a video to give you a few more details to prepare you for what's to come:
